can't... stop... watching...

So. True Blood. Addictive, inn't? I'm halfway through the second season and I've only been watching it for the past three days. It's almost CLAMP-like in its ability to keep you watching to find out what absolutely ridiculously fucked-up thing is about to happen next. It's like a soap opera, only with vampires and crazy ass horror elements and an actual sense of humor and, you know, all the sordid freaky trainwreck crap people actually want from soap operas but can't get because of network tv. (And it is. A trainwreck, I mean.)

You know what this show's problem is? Bill and Sookie are the least interesting characters out of the entire cast. They are pretty much only interesting because of their hysterical normality. The show itself even seems to realize this. Why are they the main characters?

I wish Lafayette and Tara were the main characters. ;; They're awesome. And - okay, uh. Am I the only one who finds Lafayette ridiculously hot? I'm just sayin', okay. I am ready for him to have an actual love interest instead of just a string of dirty old man clients. I hear this actually happens in S3. AWESOME.

I wiki'd for who was playing him (Nelsan Ellis) b/c oh my god that man can act his ass off? And incidentally discovered that in the novels, Lafayette dies at the point that the first season ends. Why am I not surprised, ugh. Black AND gay? Jfc it's a miracle he didn't implode on the page. =_=;

Anyway, in closing, Lafayette will, in fact, make you eat the AIDS BURGER.

Tip yo waitress~

OH LORD YES. I watched the pilot episode but didn't feel like watching further. That would have been the end of it but then I caught an episode on a local channel and for the love of non sparkly vampires such as Eric plot, marathoned half of the second season and third season in a weekend :D :D

I do not care for their Tru Wuv at all and in Season 3, I had serious problems with Sookie's characterization. They should make the show all about Eric and Pam and Lafayette and Tara *nods*

Yeahhhh, their tru wuv is really... snore. I mean, don't get me wrong, I often like cheesy tru wuv tropes, but I don't really like overly sappy stuff, and I don't really like vanilla "he's such a gentleman and she's such a lady" pairings. So. :\ Doesn't help that their whole relationship is incredibly repetitive. Passionate sex! Fighting over what basically amounts to the same thing over and over! Passionate sex! Rinse, repeat. I would think they could think of more creative ways to add relationship tension.

LAFAYETTE! They should just give him his own show because damn.

And yeah, True Blood is a show where I alternate between OMG SO ADDICTIVE and OMG WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON DID THEY REALLY JUST GO THERE. I...I have a complicated relationship with it, what can I say.

FOR REAL, man. Lafayette is just - I don't even have words, srsly.

Seriously, so much of this show's draw is trainwreck appeal that I wonder if I should feel embarassed for enjoying it, lol.

Tara was also white in the books. Which brings the net sum of non-white book Main Characters in a series set in the US South to Zero.

True Blood's most delightful aspect is absolutely that 'train-wreck soap opera' thing it has going on.

I am deeply crossing my fingers to get a serious reduction of Bill and Sookie. I actually find the characters far more interesting when they're apart than when they're together. When they're apart, there is far less truewuv and far more 'I'm a young Southern Gentleman vampire' and 'I'm a psychic waitress', which leads to more hijinks!

Lafayette, Tara, Pam, Eric and even Sam are characters that I find far more interesting than the Sookie/Bill show. Luckily, latter seasons have far less Sookie/Bill show. :D

...Wow.

The times I like Bill and Sookie are the times like the scene where they're flailing around at the vampire hotel check-in. Basically, when they are being hilarious. Otherwise, they're kind of... zzz. Really, every single person, even Jason, is much more interesting (regardless of relative likability).
